U2's tour was the most profitable of 2011



U2 are responsible for the most lucrative tour of 2011, with a total of 44 sold-out concerts that yielded more than 224 million in box office revenue, revealed to Billboard.

According to a list compiled by U.S. magazine Billboard, almost three million people attended 44 shows, all sold out, Bono of the band gave in 2011.

In second place was the tour of the U.S. Bon Jovi, with a total of 68 concerts, all sold out too, which was attended by nearly two million people. The tour, which started in Lisbon in July, earned 150 million at the box office.

Among the 25 most lucrative tours this year are from various artists and bands that passed through Portugal, like Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Britney Spears and Katy Perry.
