Tom Jobim, Diana Ross and Steve Jobs honored with Grammy


The Brazilian musician Tom Jobim, singer Diana Ross and Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder, will be honored in February in the United States, the Grammy awards ceremony, the most important music industry, was announced today.

According to the BBC, Tom Jobim, Diana Ross, Steve Jobs, the singers Glen Campbell, Gil Scott-Heron and George Jones, and groups The Memphis Horns and The Allman Brothers Band, musician and arranger Dave Bartholomew and engineer Rudy Van Gelder will be distinguished with the Feb. 12 Grammy awards of merit.

Antonio Carlos Jobim, who died in 1994, is considered one of the key musicians of Brazilian music and helped spread the bossa nova in the world.

Diana Ross, 67, will receive its first Grammy Award despite being nominated several times during his career, the contribution to the recording industry.

Steve Jobs, who died in October, is distinguished for his role in the development of "products and technologies that have transformed the way we consume music, television, movies and books," says the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the United States record.

"The awards this year demonstrate a variety of excellence, contributions and permanent impressions on our culture," said Academy President Neil Portnow.

A 54. Th Grammy Ceremony takes place on February 12 in Los Angeles, California.
